B.Sc. (IT)

About the Department

Bachelor of Science in Information Technology [B.Sc(IT)] was introduced by the University of  Mumbai in the year 2001. Our college commenced the course right from its inception and formed the B.Sc(IT) Department(2001) and has since been successfully running the course for 17 years now. The college also runs a full-time MSc(IT) course.

BSc(IT) is a Three-Year Full time Degree course spread across six semesters, with two semesters per year. The course covers a wide array of topics including Programming, Database Management, Networking, Software Engineering , Electronics and Applied Mathematics.

Taking into account the current trend, the course has made way for new technologies like Android Programming , Green Computing etc.

The college has been providing consistent placements to students for the past few years. Most of our students are employed with IT giants like Infosys, IBM, TCS, MBT, iGATE, Capgemini, Wipro etc.

About the Subject

B.Sc. IT Eligibility Criteria 

  1. Applicant should have passed Class Twelve from a recognized board
  • Applicant from Maharashtra Board is eligible
  • If applicant is from other board, Eligibility certificate issued by the Eligibility Section of University of Mumbai is necessary
  • Applicant who’ve completed Class Twelve with Science and Commerce are eligible.

Note: The candidate must have Mathematics as a subject in Class Twelve.

    2.   An applicant must have a minimum 45% marks aggregate (open) and 40% marks aggregate (for reserved category)

  1. Students with post H.S.C. – Diploma in Computer Engineering / Computer Science / Computer Technology / Information Technology and allied branches of IT will be eligible for direct admission to the Second Year of B.Sc. (IT).

Note: Diploma should be recognized by the Board of Technical Education or any other recognized Government body.


M.Sc. IT Eligibility Criteria 


A learner who has either passed B.Sc. Degree in Information Technology of University of Mumbai or any other recognized University with minimum 45 percent of marks.


B.Sc in Computer Science/BCS with minimum 45 percent marks.


B.E. Degree in any branch with minimum 45 percent marks.


B.Sc (Mathematics) minimum 45 percent marks.


B.Sc (Physics) with minimum 45 percent marks.


B.Sc (Statistics) with minimum 45 percent marks.


B.Sc (Electronics) with minimum 45 percent marks.

With Mathematics as one of the subjects at 10+ 02 or equivalent examination.

Arvind Khadye,Coordinator for BSc(IT) and MSc(IT) am working with Sathaye College since December 2002. 
I am passionate about teaching and want to share my experience and expertise
to enhance the students IT skills. I have aquired the following degrees:BSc(Physics), MSc(Comp Sci) and MCA.

Subhash Bansode
Assistant Professor

The Faculty is M.Sc. in Physics from the Shivaji University, Kolhapur. He has been working at Sathaye College since 2008 in Department of IT. He has since then proved to be an asset to the Institution. Before 2008 he has teaching experience of 4 years at B.N. Bandodkar College of Science, Thane. He Worked as Visiting faculty for Masters Course in Physics at Institite of Science, Mumbai and K.J. Somaiya College of Comerce & Sience, Vidyavihar. He also worked as moderator for M.Sc. Physics theory examination at K.J. Somaiya College of Science & Commerce  and Moderator for B.Sc. IT theory examinations at Various Colleges.
